Dogs

Dogs are best known to be man’s best friends. They are probably one of the most loyal companions one can have. Dogs are clingy as they want to go wherever their owners go. It is probably one of their innate characteristics. One best example of this can be seen in the movie “Hachiko”, whereas Hachiko, the dog, waited for his owner for 9 years, even though his owner already died. It is a reflection of Hachiko’s loyalty towards his owner. It is adorable to have a dog like Hachiko at home and just enjoy the company of the dog.  They love their owners unconditionally.  Aside from that pure love, dogs are also reliable guards. They can guard your house against intruders which is a very big advantage especially if you are living alone. Aside from that, if you have an outgoing personality, you might want to consider having a dog as a companion. You can do a lot of outdoor activities with your dog, like walking or jogging. Dogs are also extremely intelligent that is why you can train them to do some tricks. These are just some of the great perks of getting a dog.  However, there are also a lot of very important things to consider before getting a dog. One of these is the breed of the dog. There are a lot of dog breeds and every breed has different sizes as well as different personalities. The size of the dog should be considered because it should match the size of your house. If you are living in an apartment without a yard, you might think twice about getting big dogs or very active dogs. Dogs require a lot of attention. If you are someone who works 24/7, and you think you can’t give the attention needed, then you might reconsider your decision of having a dog. The maintenance of taking care of dogs is also quite expensive, and aside from that, it also requires a lot of time and patience, especially in training dogs. They love to play around as well as bite things around. They can also be aggressive especially if they are threatened or if their owners are threatened. This is the reason why you need to invest time and resources in training your dog if you decide to have one.

Cats

Cats are known for their independent characteristics. They might think that they are the boss and instead of owning them, they might think that they are owning you! Unlike dogs who demand too much attention, cats only demand much food and some time for petting.  They can also be great communicators because you can easily distinguish whether they are hungry or they need something from you. Just take a look at them or hear their voice calling “Meow!”  Cats love to do their own thing, especially cleaning themselves. This is the reason why it won’t take that much time from you to bathe them and it won’t also take that many resources for their grooming. Cats are also small in size compared to dogs that’s why even if you are living in a small apartment or a house without a yard, it doesn’t matter. They don’t usually run outside, rather they prefer sleeping most of the time. If you’re someone who just loves to read books at home while drinking a cup of coffee or tea, a cat could be a very good companion.  However, there are things that you might need to consider before getting a cat. Considering their size and personality, cats are not very good at guarding or watching over the house. They also have topnotch jumping skills that’s why prepare yourself to see them perch on the top of your counter, on the shelves, and even on top of your refrigerator. What can you? Cats are the boss! They are also very clever, especially when it comes to food. That’s why it is very important to train your cat not to steal food from the table. Cats don’t bite around, however, they have their special ways of destroying your stuff and furniture at home. They love to scratch around especially that expensive set of a couch in your living room.  They can also be moody at times. They can be very sweet and can also be very aggressive at times. So better watch out for that mood swings.

Conclusion
